Today i got the booking confirmation for my plane tickets to go to Japan ! Omedetō !
I’m sure some of you are wondering something like
Japan ? You’re going to Japan ?
Well, in fact a friend of mine, le Keuj, is working in Tokyo since January for 1 year or so. And when he told me that i said something like
oh come on ! I’ll be visiting you !
So we talked about that with some friends, and finally we are three people ready to kick in Japan this July : Aurelien, an old friend of mine who is also a friend of le Keuj, my brother Venceslas, and me. We had a harsh time to agree on the dates and times for this trip, because i’m finishing my internship on the 6th of July, and the 2 others aren’t students anymore and need to plan their holidays with other people at work. Sooo we finally managed to get those dates, the departure is planned at 8am on saturday 7th of July, and we get back at 5pm on sunday 22th of July. Yeah that’s right, we’re going to have 2 awesome (i hope) weeks in Japan ! Woohooo !

This afternoon, i was fooling around at my friend’s coco, and i was somehow curious abouthis media player. In fact the thing that bugged me was that the icons for media files : an orange foot. So he told me it was an all new media player called Gom Player, that it was free, and most important of all, that it has all the codecs built in. Wow.
I know for a long time that playing all types of video is a pain in the ass. I myself was a great fan of Media Player Classic, the best light-weight player by Gabest, but even if it’s a great player, you still have to install your own codecs. A few years back i had time to install each one of those codecs by myself, but now there are so much of them so i don’t have time to do that. It ended that i used the satsuki decoder pack, but with all those settings which you don’t understand, it offens create conflicts between codecs.
So i gave a try to Gom tonight, and well, i’m really amazed. Light-weight, goodlooking, skinnable (even if i really don’t care about that sort of stuff), all files play well (except a realmedia file, but who cares ?), subs are well shown… And most of all, my ATI remote wonder can control Gom without any special plugin ! That is awesome.
A little quote from coco, when i said i was really convinced by Gom
Coco : “Ah tu vois ça bute !”
I know some of you will be surprised with me not using MPC anymore, especially those i converted to it, but Gom really is what we can call a killer-app !

Recently at work i noticed that most of the people do not have any notion of security. I see some guys leaving at midday or at night without locking their workstation. It could be ok if the office’s door was locked too… Thursday was a non-working day, so on Friday i was almost alone at work, and there was plenty of offices with door great open, and i’m sure 50% of the workstations were’nt locked. I know you need an access card to enter the buildings, but you juste have to wait for someone who enters right before you, and you’re in !
I know i may sound a bit paranoid, but i lock my workstation every time i leave my chair, even when just going to get some water. Well, in fact i don’t know if there is so much information to steal, but anyway, lock your workstation !

Last wednesday i had quite a bad surprise. I was at work when my ex-girlfriend called me, she told me that something happened to my car, which was parked in the street near my flat (and yes, my ex-girlfriend is also my neighboor). So when i got back home i went to see what happened, and i found my car’s back totally wrecked ! WTF i always have bad luck with those fucking cars… But in my misery i found a little paper under my windshield wiper with a little word like :
I am so sorry, here is my phone number
So i managed to get that guy on the phone, in fact it was a delivery boy of that bakery two streets from here who lost control of his vehicle, and of course crashed into MY car. Well, we filled in the report for the insurance, and the day after i had my car moved to the nearer garage. An expert is expected on monday to see how my car is damaged.
I really hate cars.
